Jocelyne Alloucherie

Jocelyne Alloucherie lives and works in Montreal. Through complex configurations, her work explores, in both conceptual and poetic terms, ideas related to the image, the object and place. She has created numerous installations that bring together elements informed by sculptural, architectural and photographic considerations.

Several permanent works conceived for public spaces reflect these same preoccupations. Jocelyne Alloucherie’s career has been recognized with numerous awards, including the Canada Council for the Arts, Martin Lynch-Staunton Award in 1989; a Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst (DAAD) residency in 1997; the Louis-Hébert Award from the Société Saint-Jean-Baptiste de Montréal in 1999; the Governor General’s Award in Visual and Media Arts, presented by the Canada Council for the Arts, in 2000; the Prix Paul-Émile-Borduas in 2002; and the Prix Jean-Paul-Riopelle, awarded by the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec, in 2007.
