JOHN HEWARD 1934 - 2018

 

The artist John Heward died on November 6, 2018 at the age of 84. John's work has been represented by our gallery since it opened in 1971.

While being also a musician, John Heward remains a pillar of the visual arts in Canada. The originality and importance of his work have been repeatedly highlighted by exhibitions at the gallery, by a major retrospective at the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec and by numerous articles and catalogues.

It's mostly a colleague and a friend that we lose. Both his dedication to art and his curiosity and interest in others made John a particularly endearing fellow. His open, frank and cordial presence will be missed by many.
