Martha Townsend: "Faire surface"

Nothing could be truer: Martha Townsend’s work could eloquently illustrate the Minimalist dictum “less is more”.

This option explored, we still continue to ask what goes beyond form and goal.

This work is not clothed only in simplicity, it emanates from a precise awareness of the relationship between container and contained that compels the observer to neither add nor remove anything.

What we have is a plenitude: with nothing added or taken away, what remains is wordless evidence of a creative intelligence at work, carrying only something essential, simply there before our eyes.
