The Scale of Things: Jerome Bouchard and Mathieu Gaudet

The Embassy of Canada is pleased to present a contemporary art exhibition featuring paintings by Jerome Bouchard and sculptural works by Mathieu Gaudet.

The works of this exhibition address the question of the scale of things. In particular, the idea of “near and far” is brought out by juxtaposing Japanese and North American cultures and through the materials and techniques used in the artwork on display.

The notion of “near and far” is also considered by distorting distances using iconographies of both cultures such as waves, mountains, rocks and so on. In particular, while moving around the exhibition, the viewer’s interpretation regarding the scale of the elements presented in the artwork will be challenged.
